AN INTERVIEW WITH SHANNON


Tell us a little bit about yourself, Where are you from? What do you do?

Hey, I’m Shannon. I’m from a small village just outside of Bishop’s Stortford, named Takeley. I am a hair extensions consultant & colourist. I am in the Strictly Xtended salon part time, along with looking after my daughter who is 3.

Share your story! What’s your journey? How did you start in the hair industry? 

I started my hairdressing journey working a Saturday job at the age of 14. I fell in love with the creativity that comes with being a hairstylist & meeting people from all walks of life, this made me start an apprenticeship as soon as I left school.

How did you come to start working at Strictly Xtended? What’s it like working at the salon? 

A friend informed me that Strictly Xtended was looking for a stylist & I jumped at the chance to join the team! I met with Abigail and we just clicked. I couldn’t wait to start & still feel blessed to have the opportunity to work in the beautiful salon & along side Abigail, who is an incredible stylist & such an inspiration.

What does healthy hair mean to you?

To me, healthy hair means confidence. When I know my hair is healthy, I know it looks and feels great.

What are difficulties you’ve ran into with incorporating a healthy regime health into your life? Do you have advice for someone who might also have difficulties? 

A difficulty I have found in the past is consistency to keep up a healthy hair regime. Consistency is key! Eating well, keeping update with regular trims & conditioning treatments is so important. Also don’t forget the right products, ask your stylist for the correct products for your hair type.

What is your hair routine?

My hair schedule consist of embracing my natural curls to keep heat to a minimum. I will wash my hair once-twice a week and apply curly cream & leave-in conditioner to enhance my curls. Every few weeks I will use a deep conditioning treatment to keep my hair healthy along with regular trims.
